Well I'm glad you asked.
Eyes of Time is a YA Fantasy, the first in a series, and it follows a group of young teenagers who will grow into young adults by the end of the series.
At the start of Eyes of Time, Zuri, my protagonist, is thirteen, nearing her fourteenth birthday. She and her younger brother have a secret, or rather, are a secret. They must hide from the outer world, because if they don't find somewhere safe to escape to, they'll be killed before they even get the chance to talk to another person. Or at least, they thought so.
But when Zuri accidentally meets another young teenager, a sweet boy in love with music and books, no one comes for her, and with some coercion, he and his friend, the beautiful and sharp son of a very powerful family, manage to help them both before any more harm can befall them.
Finally safe, enough at least, Zuri joins the boys in their training group, having left full-time schooling early in order to train for the military, as Emin goes to school. Their mentor, Haruko, was close to her older brother before the dreadful day that left her family dead, and he's overjoyed to see her return alive.
As they train, they meet a new friend, who joins them in their group, a humble master swordsfighter, and genius chess-playing mathematician who doesn't take himself very seriously at all.
And then they manage to save another whose entire life was spent trapped in the small walls of one of the Immortal Hideki's experimentation labs. A boy who is as good as he is gold.
Together, they train, study, and take time to enjoy their childhoods.
But there's something going on in their Military City, and as they start to realise they can't trust that the adults around them can protect them from the shady leaders of the city, those leaders start to see how powerful the teens are.
And no matter how hard the adults try to protect them, not even the Commander of the City's military base can prevent Hideki's infiltrating forces from causing problems.
Hideki knows the children are powerful, and he knows that if they work together, they could be strong enough to cause his downfall. He doesn't want to hurt children, but they could be the greatest threat to his power since the formation of The Alliance.
He doesn't want to let that happen.
So he will stop at nothing to steal away that power so that he can use it against them.
